Welcome to the page that discusses Put Options

I want to start this blog by telling you that I have no 1-800 number, I am not trying to sell you any newsletter with the next great stock idea. I am not inviting you to come to my house and view a cleaning agent. I will not try to sell you plastic bowls or any other ‘can’t miss’ ideas. I do not have any life changing secrets and I cannot promise you a flat stomach.

I am going to share with you my daily option moves and the reasons behind them. My way of trading options are of course not the only way to utilize Put Options. This is a way that I have found to be simple and easy and not as complicated as some make this business. My hope is that you can develop a steady stream of income and continue to enjoy your life.

NFLX,,,Grrr

Well, I was stopped out of the NFLX puts and lost a little. I think I will get out of nflx for awhile and let the water settle down. I might jump on AMZN or some of the other stocks that are performing better. So now, with the freed up maintenance I will go hunting for a good play.

Jerry, great book! I've been selling puts for a couple of years, but never previously considered using maintenance margin in order to go deeper out of the money...changed my way of thinking about risk.

Do you use PowerOptions to do any of your screening? It's a great real-time screening tool that allows lots of filters on both the stock and the option. For example, seconds ago, stocks that show up on my recent screens for January candidates for further analysis included: HAL, FSLR, TCK, ANF, CTXS, CLF.

Thanks again for sharing your method.

Hi John,

Can you elaborate a bit more on this PowerOptions screening? Is PO your platform? I am currently using ThinkorSwim. I would like to have the same type of filter system.

Power Options is a screening tool. It does 90% of the work for me in researching stocks and put option candidates. I also use TOS for my trading.
See www.poweropt.com. They have initial screens you can use and modify.
It's a great tool and real time, too.
